Scanner is Hexio's real OCR (lib/ai/ocr.ts). Captures invoices, receipts and tickets from a camera or PDF, turns them into structured entries and reconciles them against the matching bank movement.
Scanner isn't a generic OCR. It knows your chart of accounts and integrates with your banking to close the loop.
Mobile photo, email (a dedicated inbox for suppliers) or PDF upload. Every format ends up in the same place to be processed.
Implemented in lib/ai/ocr.ts. Extracts supplier, NIF, base, VAT, total and date. Works with bar receipts, formal invoices and delivery notes.
Integrated with expense-rules AI: it learns that "Bar Tibidabo" receipts are per diems for project X under account 629. Every new invoice gets booked on its own.
When the charge appears in the bank (via Enable Banking), Scanner matches it with the scanned invoice. No human in the happy path.
Each extracted field carries a confidence score. If the base is 99% and the VAT 64%, we only ask you to confirm the VAT. The rest goes through.
Each supplier has a profile that improves with every invoice. By the fifth invoice from the same supplier, you're not asked anything.
"Every evening I photograph the day's receipts: per diems, fuel, hardware shop, accommodation. In 30 seconds they're accounting entries booked to the right project. At month end, the accountant only reviews the ones Scanner flagged with low confidence — typically 4 or 5 out of 80."
